How to create shadow under a object

Open any object image file. For example I am opening a image of ball with transparent background (png format). File > Open > image.jpg - Open

Rename this image layer as Ball layer.

Click- Create a new layer. Rename it as Background layer.

Move down the Background layer under the Ball layer.

Select the Background layer. I will fill this layer background  color as white. So be ensure that Foreground color is set as white color. So select Paint Bucket Tool then click on the background to apply white color.
